Struggles of Sexual Anorexic


Sexual Anorexia means constant avoidance of sex because of guilt. Sex is not an offense but it is a choice. It is an important part of life. Some people tend to avoid sex because of following reasons:
  • Sexual abuse and rape
  • Negative attitude toward sex
  • Strict religious upbringing in relation to sex
  • Communication problems
  • Power struggles with a partner or loved one
Impotence in men, is a sign of sexual anorexia. It is not something to be ashamed about. This may happen because of above-mentioned reasons. In layman’s terms, Anorexia means “lack of appetite.” People who tend to have sexual anorexia avoid, fear or dread sexual intimacy. Inhibited sexual desire, sexual avoidance, and sexual aversion is phrases thimageat describe the same condition. A person with sexual anorexia may also show fear and anger when the subject of sex comes up. This could mean that he has encountered abuse or rape or he has not had good experiences with sex that he tends to avoid it. It may happen that a victim may have developed sexual addiction and will be ashamed of it. There could be communication gap and thus, sexual anorexia could develop.
